2007 Galleries

Fall Exhibition, Chelan, WA : September 29, 2007. The Hydroplane and Raceboat Museum held their annual "Fun Day" at Lake Chelan. Headquartered at the newly remodeled Caravel/Grandview on the Lake Resort owned by John Walcker (U-3 crew and Sponsor), five boats made the trek from Seattle to tear up the Lake as they have in years past. The 1960 Miss Burien, 1975 Oh Boy! Oberto, Vashon Unlimited's 1955 Miss Thriftway, Dixon Smith's 1962 Miss Bardahl and Barb Carpers' 1959 Miss Century 21 were on hand. The crane arrived on time and the boats hit the water around 10:30. In total, thirty-five rides were given in a five hour period. All boats performed well except for the Oberto which encountered engine trouble about half way through the day.

10th Annual Gala Dinner & Auction : August 2, 2007. Photos from the Miss Thriftway Homecoming party held a the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum. with the generosity of our volunteers, donors, and guests, we were able to raise over $70,000. The majority of the proceeds from the Gala will go into the Museum's general operating budget.

Columbia Cup, Tri-Cities, WA : July 22, 2007. With the roar of screaming Allison's and Merlin's echoing across the Columbia River, some old timers might have though they had been transported back in time to a late 1960's Atomic Cup. Four of the Hydroplane & Raceboat Museum's vintage boats were on hand at the 2007 Lamb Weston Columbia Cup to help Eastern Washington celebrate the 42nd Annual Tri Cities Water Follies. In attendance were the 1962 U-40 Miss Bardahl, the 1955 U-60 Miss Thriftway , the 1960 Miss Burien, and the 1975 Oh Boy! Oberto.

Spring Exhibition, Seattle, WA : June 7, 2007. Four vintage thunderboats hit the water on Lake Washington. The brand new 1955 Miss Thriftway replica, built by Vashon Unlimited, along with Dixon and David Smith's incredible restoration of the 1962 Miss Bardahl made their long awaited debut. Also tested were the 1960 Miss Burien and the 1975 Oh Boy! Oberto.
